Special Presentation: On The Trail of The Real Dracula
October 30 – 1:00 – 2:00pm
Cypress Hall
Resident: FREE / Non-Resident: $5.00

Who is the real Dracula? Where did he live? High on a mountain in the gloomy forests of Transylvania is Bran Castle, thought to be the home of VLAD III or Vlad the Impaler. When Bram Stoker, an Irish novelist who featured Gothic novels began to study Eastern European history, he came across some lore about vampires that fascinated him. He created a character Count Dracula- modeled possibly after Vlad but was completely fictional. However, this novel, that is seldom read today, has evoked a culture that has whetted imaginations- especially around the end of October- All Saints' Eve. I will tell the story of how all this came together as I visited Transylvania and listened to our Romanian guide.

Join Dr. Evelyn Kelly who recently returned from a trip to Transylvania. (It's perfect timing!)
